Artist Interview With Sansai
Every other week, the OpenZoo Team meets creators who offer their NFT creations on our marketplace, in order to get to know them better. This week we met an artist who can skillfully express herself through both traditional and digital arts, Sansai…
Welcome Sansai, please introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, I’m Sansai from SANSAI STUDIO, the owner of a collection called ‘NIRVANA’. I’m from Thailand, and I mostly do art rather than talk to people! It’s the first time I’ve ever been interviewed; so exciting. I’m very pleased and honored to be doing this interview!
How long have you been in the NFT market?
About a year ago, when I got to know the blockchain concepts. Then I’ve been checking different crypto on several trading platforms. After that, I thought it could be a good way to share and sell my artwork.
Where did you first hear of OpenZoo?
From some friends who knew ZooKeeper. They let me know that the team was launching a new NFT marketplace and then I followed up the news on Twitter.
Why choose OpenZoo over other marketplaces?
I’ve tried many platforms before OpenZoo. It is the best for me because of the low gas fee and the stable performance. This is a good place for artists, which is the main factor in NFT trading transactions.
What does OpenZoo bring to the table, and why have you chosen it as your minting platform?
I like the idea of starting a new project while discovering a new environment. It’s always exciting. I was selected as an Early Bird artist for the pre-launch incentive program; it was a good start! The OpenZoo team is very easy to contact and always ready to help out and rapidly solve problems. I have the feeling of being involved in something huge. I recommend my friends, artists and collectors, to find out more about OpenZoo.
What are your creations about and how did you get inspired to make them?
‘NIRVANA’ is an art collection which aims to show the groundbreaking spirit of each animal species. My inspiration to create them comes from my fondness for cartoons, abstract images, and also children’s drawings. Each character that I create is like a liberating experience for me. They can come in any color and I feel free to draw with any kind of lines. My hope is that with my artwork I can touch people of all ages.
Everyone can draw or even copy a picture in order to practice. It’s a very good meditation time and It was also one of the funniest collections I’ve ever made!
Have your artistic creations successfully met their public and customers on OpenZoo?
I’ve been lucky my artwork has been successful at the outset, just after minting the first NFTs! Then the marketing effort helped me out to get more buyers interested in my project, as the OpenZoo community has been steadily growing.
What is your favorite personal NFT creation and can you tell us a bit about it?
I have a cat, so the very first subject idea was to start drawing my own cat at home. This item called CAT OF NIRVANA is still my favorite one. It’s also the symbol of the ‘NIRVANA’ collection and the first NFT of the collection to be sold by the way.
I’ve been experimenting with several different types of paint on canvas before being fully satisfied with something that meets my expectations. I had no strict idea about the digital render I would get; but when I saw it for the first time, it caught my eyes and I fell in love with it right away.
What kind of creative process do you use in your NFT development? Is your focus on traditional or digital art processes?
I work by myself, and I always keep learning more about art history, marketing and the English language. I think it’s fundamental to increase my knowledge to improve my artwork and also all the aspects related to management of the collections. Last year I was very frustrated when I created a 1000 items collection on another platform and I managed to sell only 10%. So I try to improve all my communication skills because it’s a very important element of the NFT realm.
How do you communicate and promote your creations online?
I mostly communicate on Twitter. I started using Twitter when I began selling NFTs. For me it’s the best media to share and to inform because I can reach collectors as well as my fellow artists.
Are you currently reflecting on the possibility of using your NFT creations in metaverse or crypto gaming environments?
I love the idea that today we can enjoy art from all eras of History. Moreover, art is everywhere and it comes in multiple forms. I’m also excited about the idea of having my proper online gallery some day, in which people from around the world could visit and browse the artwork. Then stay tuned for further news that will come. I try to put myself in new technology all the time.
What are your future plans? Any new collections on the horizon?
For the ‘NIRVANA’ collection, there is still a long way to go. There will be constant updates. And I can announce that new items will be added soon. The buyers will be able to make some offers without any set reserve price.
Tell us about the evolution of your current project?
The ‘NIRVANA’ collection will continue in its original format. Because I intended it first to be an artistic achievement, not a collectibles project. Then my aim is really to keep creating some pieces inside a collection which already has a solid foundation. I am confident that this artwork will keep on meeting art enthusiasts and collectors without marketing.
Which artists do you admire the most?
I would say Leonardo da Vinci, the Italian master of the Renaissance. I am so impressed with his multifaceted genius as he contributed to major realms as a painter, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor and architect. Leonardo is my role model because I like to get involved in many different environments and works.
What are your thoughts on the exponential development of NFTs within the crypto realm, and beyond?
It’s very interesting to see how the whole crypto realm is growing up with so many smart projects popping up. And the same for NFTs also. Art is appreciated and accepted in all its forms. I know many NFT artists of all ages, and it’s something very touching. For me, the NFT revolution is like walking inside a museum with events all over the World occurring every day!
What would you like to say to people who are skeptical about the NFT market?
The NFT concept is not brand new. But the technologies supported and NFT use-cases are constantly progressing. It’s fascinating, because we haven’t even figured out what this field of innovation will be like in the future.
People collect art to support their favorite artists, they invest their love and their passion for art. People buying NFTs don’t just want to buy image files; they want to acquire the original ownership in order to be part of a community which will be engraved in the blockchain for eternity…
